A few days before the wedding we surrendered to the fact that it was going to rain on Kara and Ben's wedding day. Possibly all day. She had an awesome location picked outside, over looking the river in Idlewild. But Mother Nature had other plans.
Thanks in part to the many changes of plans Kara and Ben had the coziest wedding in Fort Peck. Complete with rain falling outside, a fire in the fireplace at the hotel lobby, Home-brewed beer, and delicious homemade pies. It was fully Fall and fully awesome.
Rain or not, Autumn in Fort Peck was still bursting with color. Oranges, yellows, and greens in the trees overlooking the dredge cuts were enough to make any Fall lover like Kara swoon. We met up in this pretty lane in Park Grove for their First Look. Neither of them were worried about the rain so, umbrella in hand Ben saw Kara for the first time. His reaction was priceless and he yelled to his groomsmen in awe, "I get to marry her!" It was so sweet!
I might have spotted this dirt road while driving to the hotel and then reversed in the middle of the highway to take a second look. It was Fall perfection.
Turns out the Fort Peck hotel has a HUGE covered porch. Large enough for an entire outdoor wedding to happen in the rain and under cover. Hands down the best part of this wedding was when the flower girl kicked her basket of the leaves down the stairs rather then "sprinkling" them. So funny!
Kara surprised Ben and switched their first dance song to "The Bluest Eyes in Texas." He sang the whole thing to her. It was adorable.
Ben had a surprise of his own for Kara, "Benni and the Groomsmen" sang Kara Galway Girl. How cool is that?
